Field Trip Time!

One of the biggest things the PTO helps support each year is curriculum-based field trips and in-school programming for students at both Cashman and Shay. These experiences give kids the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom, create memories with their classmates, and connect learning to real life in exciting ways.

The question everyone always asks first:
What does the PTO funding actually cover?

The answer is: admission AND the bus fee.

Transportation costs continue to rise every single year, and we know how important it is that students are able to participate without families carrying the full burden of those costs. We also proudly help cover transportation costs for our handicapped students to help make these trips accessible for everyone.

We truly do our best to fully support the cost of field trips whenever possible, but depending on pricing increases and fundraising efforts throughout the year, there may occasionally be overflow costs that become the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

A few important things to know:

• All trips and programs funded through the PTO must be curriculum based.

• Field Trip & Programming Request Forms should be submitted at least one week before the trip or event date.

• While we will always try our best to help, reimbursement requests submitted after an event cannot be guaranteed.

• Any final costs that exceed $50 over the originally budgeted request amount will require a PTO Board approval vote before payment can be issued.

We are incredibly grateful to the families, students, sponsors, and community members who support PTO fundraising throughout the year. Every fundraiser, raffle ticket, event, and donation helps create opportunities and experiences for our kids that they will remember for years to come.
